Megan Chan

It was a rainy Saturday morning as I arrived at Hubert and Jean's place for the shoot. That's pretty rare in this part of Los Angeles but this has been an unusually wet season. But boy do we need the rain here in LA. The most enjoyable thing is watching the news and "Breaking news...storm watch 2010." Hilarious...a drop of rain becomes "Alert Storm Watch."

I loved observing the interaction between Megan, Jean and Hubert. It never gets old for me to observe the love and tenderness between parents and their first born.

As all parents know, once you have a baby, you not only have a new addition to the family, but you end up adding a bunch of new "toys" and these are not toys that us boys exactly wish for.

I bet Megan wakes up in the the morning and thinks, which of these carrier will I want to sit in today? Hmmm... the bouncer? Nope. How about the swing? Na. The car carrier? That's it, want mommy and daddy to take me out.

Thanks Hubert, Jean and Megan for allowing me to documents your life this rainy Saturday morning.

Here are some thoughts from Jean and Hubert.
Megan means "pearl." We like the story of the Parable of the Pearl/Pearl of Great Price in Matthew 13:45-46. Hearing her name reminds us, like the man who sold everything he had to buy the pearl, that in life, to pursue the kingdom of God. Also, to us, she is our precious pearl.  My (Jean's) parents chose the name Grace. They (like most Korean parents) liked the name because of the meaning. It means "favor/blessing of God." When we think of the name, we are reminded that Megan is a pure blessing from God. We did nothing to earn her, but she is a precious gift from God. My prayer is that she will reflect the goodness of God to those around her. She is already a reflection of God's goodness to us, as she brings us so much joy!

To me, I am amazed at how much you could love someone...for no reason at all. Just watching her sleep brings me so much joy. It sounds cliche, but it makes me understand God's love for us more...that He really did love us when we were still sinners...and He loves us just for being His.

Hubert: I am so humbled by how God has gifted us with Megan. I remember always wanting children but I wanted the first one to be a girl because growing up, I always wanted a big sister. I wanted my children to have that big sister, always nurturing and caring for her younger siblings. I specifically remember praying that we would have a girl. When we found out that it would be a girl, I was deeply in awe of what God had done. He answered my prayer and gave us this precious daughter. I feel so blessed and loved by God that he would entrust us with her.
